A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist in the EHS Training Program, you will play a vital role in the success of our power plant service operations. In this role, you will be responsible for site safety and environmental programs in support of our field teams who perform maintenance and upgrades to some of the largest and most powerful electrical generation machinery in the world including gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators, throughout the US and Canada. The 12-month training program combines four months of comprehensive coursework and hands-on training at Siemens Energy facilities in Orlando, Charlotte, Pittsburgh, and Houston along with eight months of job training assignments as a member of our field teams working at power plants across the US. Upon completion of the EHS Specialist training you will support field service operations at power plant project sites. This position requires traveling an average of 200 to 250 days per year. Individual assignments typically last from 1 to 10 weeks. When on assignment, working schedules are typically 10 to 12 hours per day, 6 to 7 days per week and may include working the night shift. The position will be based at one of our US service centers.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead site project safety programs including, Safety Meeting, Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Rigging & Lifting, Scaffolding & Ladders, Confined Space, Hazardous Materials, and Material Handling.
- Professional interaction with customer leadership and with SE senior leadership.
- Craft Labor Safety Training; Reporting and site documentation; Safety incident management, reporting, and investigation.
- Human performance program; Environmental and chemical programs.
- Interface with customers; Develop and improve safety procedures.
- Collaborate with our worldwide EHS and technical staff.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in safety & occupational health, Industrial Technology/Environmental Health and Safety, Safety Technology, Engineering, or related field. 8+ years industry experience. Appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree.
- Candidates must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh PA, Orlando FL, and Deer Park, TX.
- Excellent communication among diverse teams. Strong organizational skills; can work independently as well as in team environments.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
