A Snapshot of Your Day 

Your day involves expertly melting and pouring Babbitt metal into molds, using tools like torches and ladles to shape bearing surfaces. You operate and maintain centrifugal Babbitt machines, perform NDT on bearings, and read technical drawings accurately. Throughout the day, you diagnose and resolve issues, adapt to various machinery, and adhere to safety protocols. You also handle hazardous materials properly, perform TIG welding, and execute static pouring techniques, ensuring high-quality and safe babbitting processes.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Expertly melt and pour Babbitt metal into molds or fixtures. Skillfully use tools such as torches, ladles, and hand scrapers to shape and smooth bearing surfaces.
  • Operate and maintain centrifugal Babbitt machines with precision.
  • Perform NDT (PT) on bearings to ensure quality and safety.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings accurately. Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during the babbitting process efficiently.
  • Adapt to working with various types of machinery and bearings. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Properly handle and dispose of hazardous materials used in the babbitting process. Perform TIG welding as required in the babbitting process. Execute static pouring techniques for Babbitt metal applications.

What you Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in welding, machining, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in babbitting, white metal work, and operating centrifugal machines. Experience with TIG welding and static pouring is highly desirable.
  • Possess basic welding skills to assist in the babbitting process when necessary.
  • Understand different types of Babbitt alloys and their properties
  • Be familiar with the machinery and equipment used in the babbitting process.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to address and resolve technical challenges.
