Technical Process Engineer


Siemens Energy has acquired Capital Injection Ceramics Limited, a technical ceramics company located in Tyson Courtyard, Weldon South Industrial Estate, United Kingdom, to enhance its capabilities in advanced materials and technologies.


A snapshot of your day:


As a Technical Process Engineer, you focus on optimizing manufacturing processes for ceramic cores, collaborating with production, quality, and engineering teams. Your responsibilities include process design, technical support, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. 


You lead process improvement initiatives and maintain equipment and tooling. Documentation and training are essential parts of your role, along with cross-functional collaboration to support new product introductions. Safety compliance is a priority. 


You bring a Bachelor’s degree and experience in ceramics manufacturing, with skills in CAD software and problem-solving. The role is based on-site in Corby, Northants, with occasional travel, offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.


How you’ll make an impact:


• Process Design and Optimization: Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for ceramics cores including mix preparation, injection, and firing, to improve yield, reduce defects, and minimise cycle times. Responsible for all customer enquires and quotes for new and current programs, this will evolve quoting for core prices, development, engineering & tooling required to produce each program.


• Technical Support: Provide engineering support to production teams, troubleshooting process issues and implementing corrective actions to ensure consistent quality and throughput. Help develop new materials, modify current materials to meet customer requirements. Monitor & control sign off for all material testing approval, liaise with Lab & materials controller.


• Quality Assurance: Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure processes comply with Quality Management System (QMS) requirements, customer specifications AS9100 rev D


• Process Improvement: Lead initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to enhance process efficiency and reduce waste. • Equipment and Tooling: Specify, evaluate, and maintain manufacturing equipment and tooling, ensuring optimal performance and safety.


• Documentation and training: Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and technical reports, using tools like Microsoft Office Suite and our configuration system. Train as needed as per training requirements.


• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with R&D, Quality, and Production teams to support new product introductions and processes.


• Safety Compliance: Ensure processes adhere to safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials (e.g., ceramic powders, liquid resins) and conducting risk assessments. Generate tooling build instructions for new core tooling, liaise with customer and tool maker during build to ensure tooling is built to specification.


What you’ll bring:

• Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Ceramic Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering with 3+ years’ experience in ceramics manufacturing.


• Skills and Competencies: knowledge of ceramics manufacturing processes, including mix preparation, material control, dimensional controls Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing tooling and fixtures. Familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform root cause analysis. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present technical data to stakeholders.


• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day and work in a controlled manufacturing environment with exposure to ceramic powders and high temperature equipment.


Preferred additional experience:  


• Ceramic materials • Familiarity with CMM or blue light inspection. • Green Belt in Six Sigma or equivalent certification. • Aerospace industry standards AS9100 rev D and regulatory requirements. • Knowledge of advanced manufacturing technologies, such as additive manufacturing or automation.


WORK ENVIRONMENT • Location: On-site Corby Northants • Travel: Occasional travel (5-10%) may be required for supplier & customer visits.


• Schedule: Full-time, Monday 8.00am to 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am to 13.30pm
