A Snapshot of Your Day 

As an Integration & Certification Engineer (f/m/d) Battery Energy Storage System at Siemens Energy, you are in charge for the battery solution of the energy storage systems to enable the energy transition. 

You abstract the core challenges for new Battery systems and, together with a team of experts, define the new steps to be investigated and solved within R&D and customer projects. You design solutions for these challenges, and you can outline alternatives and address technical trade-offs.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

  • Development of design verification and validation plans for stationary utility scale lithium-ion Energy Storage Systems
  • Development of test specifications to ensure compliance with product requirements and industry standards
  • Execute hands on design verification and validation tests to prove system design
  • Communication and coordination with internal engineering departments and external suppliers
  • Create and/or review battery test reports and communication of deviations with concerned departments
  • Drive the development of technical solutions, Battery related I&C task definition and documentation to Control system Engineering
  • Drive risk evaluation and cost optimization for Battery systems within overall BESS solutions
What You Bring

  • Completed university degree in Engineering or applied science
  • Mid-term experience in the area of R&D projects with expert knowledge in the field of Battery technology (Li-Ion) and/or utility scale Battery Systems
  • Professional experience in test, validation and certification, especially for Li-ion batteries is a plus
  • Knowledge of relevant Li-ion battery standards, e.g. IEC62619, IEC 62933-5-2, IEC 62485-5, UL1973, UL2580, UL9540, UL9540A, NFPA 855 and UN38.3.
  • Confidently working and collaborating with internal teams such as system engineering, software, hardware, project management and external team such as test labs and suppliers
  • Having experience with defining and evaluating safety requirements of batteries and associated components
  • Practical knowledge of utilizing functional safety standards and guidelines in battery storage applications as well as previous experience in product development projects and PLM software and tools 
  • Communication skills is on a high level in English; German skills would be a plus
