A Snapshot of Your Day 

As part of the SGT-A65/A45 Engineering team in Montreal, you are leading a team of 10 engineers who are specialized in the maintenance of aero-derivative gas turbines. In this role, you are responsible for the management of all activities within the team: organize and distribute the work, prioritize tasks to meet customer expectations, offer technical assistance to team members, liaise with other departments for support and supervise the team’s performance in meeting departmental objectives.

You are the forefront of the team to make sure we offer exceptional engineering services in responding to daily technical issues in operations while progressing improvement initiatives. With effective communication you can mobilize colleagues to work efficiently and with agility in a dynamic fleet overhaul program.

Challenges facing the team include improving technical publications in the digitalization era, reducing cost while maintaining excellence in quality, developing innovative repairs to support engine programs in an unstable supply chain.

You will be working with outstanding and diverse people across our aero-derivative gas turbine unit.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

As the team leader you are responsible for:

  • The engineering services to the Montreal repair & overhaul center, particularly the sentencing of service run components for re-use with or without repair while ensuring product integrity
  • Leading the team to deliver repair schemes including any associated fixed process approvals.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators of the team in meeting customer requirements
  • The improvement and maintenance of all technical documentation for the repair and overhaul of gas turbines: the Engine Maintenance Plan, inspection documents, Parts Cleaning and Inspection (PCI), Special Instruction Procedures (SIP).
  • Leading engineering technical reviews, identify and develop cost reduction opportunities
  • Develop capabilities in terms of people, processes and tools, to meet current and future business requirements consistent with the global strategy
  • Assist in the planning and developing the analytical skills of less experienced members
  • Budgeting and cost tracking activity and responsibility for the management of any statement of work/outsource support.
  • The use of digital technology to enhance the creation, management and delivery of R&O data
  • Supporting continuous improvement activities and business excellence programs
  • Support and deliver any service level agreements with other product lines (e.g. A05).

 What You Bring  

Proven leadership skills to manage an engineering team and a strong engineering background to apply informed judgement on sophisticated problems.

  • Engineering degree, eligible for OIQ membership.
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant technical experience.
  • Ability to lead and empower a team in performing at their full potential.
  • Ability to efficiently connect with peers, subordinates, supervisors and management personnel.
  • High degree of autonomy and ability to self-manage priorities within the team’s objectives to achieve customer expectations.
  • Have knowledge of gas turbines and/or industrial equipment, project management and repair/manufacturing methods.
  • Good understanding of component definition drawings and relate to the design intent in the Engine assembly.
  • Ability to read, speak, write, understand and verbally express ideas and instructions in French and in English.
  • Proven record of working to processes and procedures. 
  • Flexibility on working hours as support can be required for second shift operations
