The Siemens Energy Division ‘High Voltage Grids’ is one of the leading global suppliers of products, systems, solutions, and services for the economical, reliable, and intelligent bulk transmission and distribution of both AC and DC electrical power. As the trusted partner for the development and extension of an efficient and reliable power infrastructure, High Voltage Grids offer utilities and the industry the portfolio they need.

Within High Voltage Grids we have the Grid Access (GA) and High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) businesses, via which we connect clean and renewable energy – mainly Offshore Wind farms and Interconnectors, to the National Grids of the UK and overseas.

Siemens Energy Limited has exciting new opportunities for a Senior Project Manager for the delivery of several large electricity transmission infrastructure projects in either:

• Offshore AC grid access connections, comprising Offshore Transformer Modules and Onshore Substations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections in the UK and overseas

• Offshore DC grid access connections, comprising Offshore and Onshore Converter Stations – for Offshore Wind Farm connections and Multi-Terminal connections both domestic and overseas

• HVDC Interconnectors – for Interconnecting the national electricity infrastructure grids across international borders

The Senior Project Manager has full responsibility for results within their allocated category ‘B’ or ‘C’ transmission projects with the objective of:

• Executing the project within the defined requirements of the Letter of Empowerment.

• Executing the project in line with the Target Agreement (with regards to safety, cost, time, quality and functionality).

• Ensuring project controls are established throughout the project in line with ‘Project Excellence at Siemens Energy’ (PE@SE) & the Business Management System.

• Ensuring compliance with all Regulations, Legislation, and Corporate Governance requirements

• Delivering both business success and customer satisfaction

• Providing professional stakeholder management throughout the project lifecycle

• Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, and escalating issues where necessary

• Managing risk and opportunity, and providing robust contract execution and administration in a professional and compliant manner

Your responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager in the HV Grids business, you will be reporting to either a Project Director or the Responsible Business Manager. Your principal role will be the management of your allocated project scope of works which could comprise packages ranging from HV Equipment, Onshore Substations and Converter Stations, Offshore Platforms (AC & DC), Offshore Containers to Ancillary systems throughout all the phases from design, construction to commissioning. You should have previously managed large and complex category ‘B’ or ‘C’ Projects in the electricity transmission industry or have significant experience in the offshore industry and be able to demonstrate success in your previous project delivery.

As a senior representative of the business, you will strive to manage customer expectations and conclude the project to the satisfaction of both the customer and the business.

Your main duties will be to:

• Direct, lead and motivate the Project Team for successful project delivery.

• Ensure work packages and targets are set for the project team to improve project delivery schedule and profitability.

• Understand the contract and pursue opportunities to facilitate change, increase revenue and reduce / mitigate risks to Improve financial performance.

• Ensure regular risk & opportunity review are conducted with the project team.

• Set the highest standards with regards to Health, Safety and Environmental performance and lead the ‘Zero Harm’ philosophy throughout the project.

• Monitor and control third parties to deliver services to meet the contract requirements.

• Provide professional stakeholder management.

• Ensure business success and achieve long term customer satisfaction for growth potential.

• Prepare Monthly Progress Reports on the assigned project for internal and external reporting.

• Act as the Engineers Representative on major subcontract packages.

• Support team member development needs in consultation with the Line Manager.

• Protect the organisation from exposure to any contract liability.

• Set up and maintain the Siemens Energy Project Management Plan.

• Monitor continuously the project status and provide early identification of deviations from plan along with mitigation actions.

• Drive the mechanical and electrical completion processes to a satisfactory outcome.

• Provide completion documentation to achieve satisfactory takeover of the assets.

Your background will include:

• Experience of managing category ‘B’ or ‘C’ construction projects within the Transmission & Distribution Industry.

• PM Accreditation at the respective level.

• Degree qualified (or similar) in a suitably related discipline.

• Demonstrable evidence of successful project delivery managing up to twenty staff.

• A working knowledge and practical application of project management methodologies and tools.

• Extensive knowledge of HV Substations (Civil, Primary & Secondary Systems).

• Experience of purchasing procedures and possessing negotiating skills.

• Knowledge of Commercial / Contractual issues.

• Conflict Management experience.

• Detailed working knowledge of current H&S legislation and the CDM Regulations.

• Working knowledge of Environmental Regulations

• Knowledge of Risk / Opportunity Management processes

• Knowledge of Consents and Licensing requirements

• Effective leadership, supervisory, communication & interpersonal skills.
