To improve our service to our clients, we need qualified candidates to enhance the new unit sales business as a Proposal Manager. The primary responsibility of the Bid Manager is to develop with the regional sales teams bids/proposals for Small size Gas Turbine (SGT) driven equipment (Compressors, Generators or Pumps), along with the auxiliary equipment and extended scope for our Siemens Energy Industrial Products customer/client base.

Your profile
  • Degree in engineering, including mechanical engineering/power engineering/process engineering or equal, with CEng status or working towards it,
  • Centrifugal compressor awareness and selection capabilities could be an advantage,
  • Fluent English skills in speaking and writing,
  • Experience or education related to design/specification/operation of rotating machinery is an advantage,
  • Positive, robust, tolerant, and cooperative personality,
  • Strong team player with good communication, problem solving, creativity and critical thinking skills,
  • Availability and willingness to start a permanent job in Lincoln, UK,
  • Domestic and international travel is required to support training, project presentations, bid clarification and project kick off meetings, 
  • Knowledge of an additional language like French, Spanish, Russian and/or German could be an advantage.

Your responsibilities

The major Responsibilities of the Proposal Manager covers:

  • Coordination of a global and cross functional team of specialists providing bid/proposal support,
  • Reviewing the customer Request For Quotation (RFQ) and Technical Specifications,
  • Performing equipment selections including drivers, driven equipment and auxiliary systems, using different engineering tools,
  • Fully configure and propose optimised solutions with tangible value proposition,
  • Engage and negotiate with major sub-suppliers to create mutually beneficial customer solutions,
  • Coordinate and participate in client clarification meetings and discussions,
  • Complete the Risk Analysis Management process,
  • Responsible for coordination of the price calculation,
  • Assist the Sales Manager in developing Technical and Commercial strategies for the successful implementation of the Order Capture Process on a project by project basis,
  • Support the Sales Manager with project or product presentations,
  • Work with the different departments worldwide in order to identify and quantify risks, develop mitigating actions to those risks and prepare the technical/execution risk assessment form,
  • Ensure the correct guarantees are included in the proposal and detail for management approvals,
  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity,
