A Snapshot of Your Day

* Develops, proposes and implements EHS processes and/or methods. 

* Plans and accomplishes roll out of EHS programs or projects, and monitors respective milestone in related organization. 

* Analyses and monitors adherence to EHS standards in assigned organizations, and prepares regular EHS reporting. 

* Analyzes and reports on changes in relevant EHS laws and regulations, and recommend changes for internal standards. 

* Contributes to internal and external EHS audits, in support of accountable EHS officer. 

* Prepares regular external EHS reporting for official authorities, or for internal stakeholder. 

* Maintains operational contact to external authorities. * Trains employees and management. 

* Keeps abreast with all respective regulations and standards in regional or local law.

How You’ll Make an Impact

We are seeking an experienced Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Advisor with extensive knowledge of Wind Turbine construction to support the safe execution of our upcoming Offshore Wind Farm Projects.

You will proactively support the site management team by providing leadership, demonstrating, and promoting responsible attitudes towards HSE, implementing best practice with regards to HSE standards and contributing towards the delivery of the overall business HSE strategy.

The HSE Advisor will coordinate with Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) internal workforce and external contractors to ensure that a suitable and sufficient Safe system of work is in place prior to works being undertaken and liaise with site supervisors to monitor that this is adhered to during the execution of works.

The HSE Advisor ensures that SGRE and their contractors comply with Environmental, Health and Safety Legislation, SGRE standards, Customer and Site requirements.

Some of your key tasks will include but not be limited to

  • Support the SGRE site management team to discharge their duties in line with SGRE procedures and local legal regulations
  • Monitor site emergency preparedness readiness
  • Monitor that SGRE and contractors practice effective pre-job planning 
  • Engage with, and promote the use of Enablon as a reporting tool for safety observations and proactive inspections
  • Monitor that safety observation reports are followed up, in conjunction with site management colleagues where appropriate, ensuring proportionate investigation of each occurrence is completed and corrective/preventative actions are effectively implemented where applicable.
  • Coordinate with action owners to achieve timely close out of Corrective and Preventive actions (CAPAs)
  • Carry out analysis of safety observations, actioning any identified trends through awareness schemes or other appropriate actions.
  • Participate in planning/coordination meetings to ensure works are safely interfaced with other operations on the site
  • Communicate HSE focus topics from within the general SGRE business to all stakeholders on the worksite
  • Perform frequent site safety walks and formalized inspections
  • Communicate and collaborate with technical functions and other HSE team members across the business to share learning and develop best practice.
  • Participate in HSE audits and assessments, both internal and external

What You Bring

Passion for renewable energy and a sense for the importance to lead the change. We are also looking for…

  • Recognized HSE qualification is mandatory (e.g., National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) Certificate in UK/ NEBOSH International General Certificate)
  • 2 Years’ experience in an HSE role in the Wind Turbine Construction/maintenance industry
  • Higher level professional HSE qualification desired (e.g., NVQ5 (National Vocational Qualifications) / NVQ6 / Degree or postgraduate diploma)
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team
  • High motivation level; self-starter with excellent leadership and excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
  • High capability with various office and cloud-based software
  • This position is field-based and will encompass rotational shifts
  • The role will require applicants to be fit to work Offshore and applicants must be comfortable with working at height
  • Preferred Skills: GWO (Global Wind Organization) Training Package
  • Experience in HSE incident case management - i.e., TapRooT RCA (Root Cause Analysis) method an advantage
