About the Role

To strengthen our customs team in Siemens Energy we are looking for a dedicated and experienced candidate to lead our customs organization in Kuwait. As the Customs Responsible for Kuwait, you will be the direct interface between the Customs HUB Middle East and the local country teams.

You are responsible for implementing a holistic and sustainable customs strategy considering the overall strategy of the company as well as Customs Headquarters. By setting up an adequate customs’ regulatory framework for the region in alignment with the global Customs ICP as well as locally applicable regulations, you ensure a compliant handling of customs operations. As an engaged and collaborative leader, you advice your business areas and ensure the cooperation with other corporate and global functions in the region to guarantee holistic guidance for our businesses and excellent operational performances. You provide the country teams with assistance and expertise in customs and foreign trade issues as well as strategic and other business topics.

How you will make an impact

• By thinking strategically and developing a sustainable regional customs strategy that is accompanied by an appropriate regulatory concept
• By collaborating closely with the relevant headquarter teams, HUB Middle East Customs Head as well as our businesses and other Corporate and Global Functions in the region, direct contact to the different national authorities related to the customs function.
• By ensuring efficient and compliant processes in the countries through the implementation of modern IT systems and by closely aligning with the country teams regarding best practices and streamlined approaches to customs and Logistics operations - always in alignment with the central roadmap, applicable regulations and our IT-strategy.
• By supporting our businesses in their operations and ensuring end-to-end guidance for our projects by the local teams
• By organizing trainings and setting up training concepts for the regional customs teams as well as other stakeholders within the company
• By being decisive and acting as the contact person at the regional level for escalations and strategic decisions
• Contract management with regard to freight forwarder and customs broker

What you bring

• University or college degree as Bachelor/Master or equivalent degree in the fields of customs/economics, foreign trade law or comparable
• You already gathered at least 5-7 years of experience in the field of customs and have a high level of professional knowledge, process-wise but also regarding customs and foreign trade regulations and logistics
• You have the capability to translate legal requirements into processes and systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic to ensure clear communication within the organization as well as towards local customs authorities.
• You are a team player with excellent networking skills who easily adapts to new working environments and organizations
• You are experienced in leading people and divers teams with different cultural backgrounds
