Are you keen to start a successful career in a practical and forward-thinking learning environment? If so, we think our Apprenticeship scheme could be a great fit. You will gain qualifications while earning a salary, so it is a fantastic alternative to college or University!
Develop your skills by working on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey. This will be a 4-year apprenticeship where you will be put onto the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard at Furness College.
How You'll Make an Impact
- Year 1 will be spent full time at college with business experience opportunities in the holidays.
- During Years 2 - 4 College will be on a release basis as required where you will study towards your Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard. Whilst in work, there may also be opportunity to gain knowledge of some of the Engineering departments of the business, to support all the specific skills and knowledge that you and our business needs.
- The product design and development by supporting continuous improvement activity to address business challenges.
- Have the chance to develop skills in understanding machining and manufacturing techniques.
- Develop your planning, delivery, and quality skills by working alongside skilled professionals.
What You Bring:
- A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (English, Math’s, Science + 1 other). If you do not yet have your GCSE results, please enter predicted grades on the application form.
- You think logically, willing to self-learn and research, and take a creative approach to problem solving
- You enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions
- You can work independently, safely, and responsibly; take ownership of challenges and ideas and are looking to develop your ability to drive and lead change.
- Identify with our values of Zero Harm, Innovative, Excellent and Responsible. We can teach you the knowledge on your apprenticeship however it also means a lot to us for you to align to our culture and behaviours.

Siemens Energy Subsea is an award-winning facility based in Ulverston and is responsible for developing, designing, and manufacturing Subsea Connectors for the global oil & gas industry and renewable energy opportunities. The factory is undertaking an ambitious digital transformation to help increase competitiveness and productivity to deliver more innovative products and services to our customers.
