We’re looking for an experienced Project Manager who will be fully responsible for results of HV cable projects in category B / C Projects.

  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience in managing HV Cable projects ideally within the Transmission & Distribution Industry.
  • Demonstrable evidence of successful project delivery managing up to twenty staff.
  • Working knowledge and practical application of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Working knowledge Substation Civil, Primary & Secondary Systems.
  • Experience of purchasing procedures and possessing negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge  of Commercial / Contractual issues
  • Knowledge of Conflict Management
  • Knowledge of current H&S legislation. CDM Regulations.
  • Knowledge of Environmental Regulations
  • Knowledge of Risk / Opportunity Management processes
  • Knowledge of Consents and Licensing requirements
  • Effective leadership, supervisory, communication & interpersonal skills.

Your responsibilities

  • The Senior Project Manager Cables (SPM-Cables) B / C – Project  - with responsibility for results:  
  • Ensuring employers requirements are understood and appropriate allowance is made both technically and commercially during sales and proposals stage
  • Co-ordinate design reviews for HV cable works with other members of the project team and business as required
  • Work with the Cable Design Manager, Procurement and Bid Manager/Project Manager in developing the best value approach for cable works on the project
  • Participate and be a catalyst for business improvement for cable works
  • Executing the cable project work package within the defined requirements of the Letter of Empowerment.
  • Executing the cable project work package in line with the Target Agreement (e.g. cost, time, functionality).
  • Ensure project controls are established throughout the project  in line with PE@Siemens-Energy & Business Management Systems.
  • Direct , lead and motivate the Cable Project Team for successful project delivery.
  • Ensure work packages and targets are set for the team to improve project delivery and profitability.
  • Ensure all appropriate records for H&S file are captured during delivery
  • Understand the contract and pursue opportunities to facilitate change, increase revenue and reduce / mitigate risks to improve financial performance.
  • Ensure regular risk & opportunity review are conducted with the project team.
  • Ensure all cable installation activities are undertaken safely, with due care for the environment with a last reputation for quality
  • Ensure temporary works design management is undertaken for all cable works and liaise as appropriate with the temporary works co-ordinator
  • Monitor and control third parties to deliver services to meet the contract requirements.
  • Ensuring professional stakeholder management.
  • Ensuring business success and achieve long term customer satisfaction for growth potential.
  • Ensuring timely decisions on open issues, escalating if necessary.
  • Responsible for preparing Monthly Progress Reports for the overall Project Director/Project   Manager on the assigned project
  • Act as the Engineers Representative on major subcontract packages.
  • Supporting team member development needs in consultation with the Line Manager.
