Description
Senior Buyer

The successful candidate will be required to support the business through proactive management of suppliers/commodities, guaranteeing an optimum supply chain and ensuring business continuity.  The role requires close collaboration with multiple interfaces to meet core business objectives.

The role holder will develop and deploy commodity/supplier strategies and will be accountable for respective performance metrics.  You will be expected to challenge the status quo, build internal and external alliances, devise and implement innovative and robust strategic procurement plans.  A key aspect of the role will be to identify and leverage supply chain value and to build strong supplier partnerships.

We offer the opportunity to work remotely, however there will be a requirement for frequent visits to our facility in Ulverston, Cumbria.


Responsibilities

  • Define supply strategies for assigned spend ensuring a strong fit to business requirements
  • Identify suppliers with the profile and portfolio to support existing and future needs
  • Implement and lead cross-functional sourcing teams for assigned commodities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to assess current and future sourcing requirements
  • Prepare and conduct supplier price negotiations and performance reviews to achieve optimal value for Siemens Energy
  • Support the qualification process for new suppliers in partnership with Supplier Quality Management (SQM) and New Product Development (NPD)
  • Build strong supplier relationships, ensuring Siemens Energy is a preferred customer


Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Experience in delivering positive results in procurement
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven negotiator with a track record of delivering a positive impact on profit
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence, challenge the status quo and effect change
  • Ability to drive performance improvement across the supply chain
  • Self-motivated, proactive, collaborative and results focused
  • Willingness to travel when required
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills
