A Snapshot of Your Day

The Package Designer (PK-DT) holds engineering and design knowledge and experience in the detailed design implementation of mechanical systems used to package Industrial Applications Products, such as gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, isothermal compressors, reciprocating compressors, steam turbines and the rotating equipment associated with this portfolio. The PK-DT works as a team member of a multi-disciplinary team through project execution.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Implementing the detailed mechanical design of rotating equipment packages, taking inputs from Package Design and Integration Specialists (PK). Detail Design of structural steel baseplates (on-and offshore applications) and release drawings and bills of materials for fabrication and machining based on requirements defined and reviewed by PK.
  • Own and create 3D-model for overall general arrangement drawings (on- and offskid) for entire rotating equipment trains and supporting auxiliaries based on requirements and data defined and reviewed by PK. Develop the 3D models of rotating equipment trains to ensure the package may be assembled and maintained in an efficient and save manner without equipment clashes.
  • Check (compare drawing vs. model), clean-up/ simplify and import supplier models for driver, driven equipment, MBO’s etc. in overall train 3D-model and build detailed piping models (incl. offskid interconnecting piping), pipe spool fabrication drawings, and design associated piping supports.
  • Conduct detailed design of coupling guards along with fabrication and machining drawings, based on requirements defined by PK and prepare lifting arrangements based on requirements defined and reviewed by PK.
  • Lead 3D model reviews internally and implements agreed changes and provide back office support for PK (backup for internal alignment and clarifications).
  • Main user and expert in Globus and NX: modeling, drafting, routing and related applications (ISOGEN, 3D evolution etc.), which also includes testing of new Globus and NX deployments ahead of formal release.

What You Bring

  • Associates degree in science or engineering related field required with a preference for Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Computer Aided Drafting, or Systems Engineering.
  • 1+ years experience with systems engineering, CAD Product Design, or Turbo Compressor Design and Product Line experience preferred, internship experience welcomed
  • Software experience with NX/Teamcenter, COMOS, JIRA and Industry standards API 614, 617 preferred
  • The base salary range is $43k-$61k. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
