The Supplier Quality Engineer assumes full responsibility of supplier qualifications, product and process qualifications and technical supplier developments to provide a global, demand covering, quality assured and cost-effective supply base for sand castings and machining commodity.
This position directly supports Compressor Product line within business area Transformation Industry out of Painted Post, NY, USA.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Main interface to supplier on technical and quality aspects for outsourced scope. Collaborates with engineering to refine product and process designs to increase manufacturability to improve quality and decrease costs. Also collaborate with procurement, plant manufacturing, quality management on supplier quality topics.
- Supplier Qualification: Lead a multi-functional team to assess supplier manufacturing capabilities, audit supplier quality management system & processes etc.
- Product and Process Qualification: Lead multi-functional team to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) for sand castings and machined parts according to applicable process descriptions and standards. Leading includes the planning, tracking, and reporting of project achievements as well as budget and resource needs. Provide technical support to suppliers to succeed in meeting Siemens requirements for sand castings and machined parts. Approve supplier process via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plan and FMEAs.
- Perform supplier oversight and product inspections during PPQ execution. Inspection types include functional test, dimensional, coating etc.
- Identify and initiate containment on any identified non-conformances. Follow-up with root cause corrective and preventive action as necessary.
- Elaborate and control Inspections and Test Plans.
- Supplier Development: Support supplier evaluation based on regular analysis of supplier quality performance. Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, quality root cause analysis and definition of appropriate risk mitigation measures at the supplier.
- Controlling and Reporting: Generate periodical quality performance reports and ensure appropriate improvement actions are initiated.
- Assist commodity / strategic buyer in developing procurement strategies and project planning.
- Responsibility to comply and / or implement the protocols, policies, guidelines, and proficiencies of the current integral management system (EHS, Quality etc.)
What You Bring
- You have a bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical or material or industrial engineering, or a similar field. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Manufacturing Engineer and/or Supplier Quality Engineer.
- You are proficient in GD & T and machining process development, defining inspections and test plans and working knowledge of NDE & Welding.
- Experience in machining, including know how is required.
- You are experienced in qualifying suppliers for machined parts for large rotating and reciprocating equipment using Product and Process Qualification process equivalent to PPAP / APQP.
- You have experience in leading projects and running virtual multi-functional teams in an international environment. You are a self-starter, determined and self-reliant; your organization, strategic, analytical thinking, leadership skills and intercultural expertise round up your profile.
- Computer skills: MS Office, SAP ERP
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20-40% of time.

The base salary range for this position in Painted Post, NY is $86,700.00 – $117,300.00 negotiable based on experience.
