A Snapshot of Your Day

In our hardware engineering team, we design, implement, and verify the hardware for innovative HVDC and FACTS applications using lean and agile methods. Our team works closely with project management, project execution and end customers to create new standardized solutions based on the latest innovations to develop and provide HVDC and FACTS technology.

As a Switchyard Control Engineer, you will be responsible for independently designing, implementing, and verifying control systems for the reference design of BCU-based switchgear control systems. Working collaboratively with our stakeholders, you will create concepts and implement these functions, considering the platform idea. Additionally, you will verify these functions and document the results. Throughout the project implementation, you will support project management colleagues with questions and problems.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Analysis of specification with a focus on technical requirements for hardware and software, considering further development from our standard
  • Driving design-related topics from the early stages of hardware concept development to manufacturing, parametrization and testing
  • Ensuring the delivery of a functional concept of hardware and software that that aligns with the platform ideas
  • Close collaboration with platform team and project engineers, as well as with plant infrastructure teams
What You Bring
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Engineering or a comparable qualification
  • Many years of experience in AC Switch Yard technology of HVDC or high voltage switchgear for air and gas insulated systems (AIS / GIS)
  • Very good knowledge of the configuration of field control devices, ideally the SIPROTEC 5 series with DIGSI 5 and CFC (Continuous Flow Chart)
  • Experience in implementing the IEC61850 standard for switchgear control and data exchange with higher-level automation and SCADA systems
  • Good knowledge of high voltage and switchgear technology, as well as the design of interlocking logic and step chains
  • Good knowledge of the secondary technical interfaces of high-voltage components (switching devices, transformers, current and voltage converters)
  • Ability to actively drive topics and resolve issues as well as solid stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Good English and German language skills
