A Snapshot of your day
As Project Engineer / Service Delivery Engineer is responsible for operational aspects of project delivery improving the financial efficiency and the profitability of projects through diligent application of accurate contractual and commercial practises with careful management of risk. You’ll also support the overall Operational Team with contractual, aftersales and warranty issues.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Providing timely, accurate valuations and where required, cost forecasts and cash flows
- The financial control of variations to the Contract supporting the Operational Engineers when required
- Preparation of monthly, interim and final valuations, applications for payment, reconciliations of valuations and costs associated with internal resources, subcontractors, specialists and suppliers
- Defence against additional excess project costs including liquidated damages. Assessment of liquidated damages against subcontracts
- Maintaining good relations with Clients and their representatives at all times. Representing the Company's interest at meetings held in connection with works under his/ her control
- Review documentation including contract conditions, bills of quantities, drawings, and other design information taking particular note of unreasonable terms, restrictions, special risks, and forms of measurement, general accuracy and clarity of quantities and ensures that documents reasonably represent the work undertaken
- Attend site progress meetings upon request or whenever it is considered in the company's interest to do so
- Liaise with the Operational Engineers in carefully recording all details involving contractual delays due to late receipt of design information, delays by subcontractors and suppliers, and any other means. Ensure the Company's interests are fully protected by correspondence and by any other means. Coordinate the preparation of contractual claims as required
- Liaise with other Departments to ensure that timely and adequate payments are received by the company for all work undertaken and ensure that timely payments are made for all services rendered to the company
- Maintain customer relationships to achieve long-term customer retention, satisfaction and growth potential
- Identifying customer requirements beyond the agreed project scope to increase the business benefit from the project
- Use and make available to others personal knowledge to optimise the proposed solution and project costs
- Participate in continuous improvement cost reduction and sales stimulation ideas creation and delivery to the overall benefit of the business
- Make full use on the Non-conformance reporting (NCR) tool ensuring all NCR’s are closed out in a timely manner
- Maintenance management and resource planning and provision
- Spare parts management and control
- Ensuring that the Asset Management Policy, SAMP and AM objectives are established and compatible with the organization’s objectives
- Liaise with internal and external partners on asset related topics
What you bring:
- Proven experience in a Contracts Management function ideally within the Electricity Industry
- Be fully conversant with the latest Terms and Conditions of contract and others including NEC & FIDDIC etc
- Experience of purchasing procedures and possessing negotiating skills
- Knowledge of CDM Regulations / Current H&S legislation & Risk Management processes
- IT Literacy (MS Office including MS Project etc.)
- Good communication & interpersonal skills
- Suitably Qualified and experienced in Contract Management
- Health & Safety qualification to certificate level - desired
- Member of a suitable professional body - desired
