A Snapshot of Your Day

You will use engineering drawings and specifications to create plans, experiments, programs, and instructions for processes used to repair and manufacture gas turbine blades and vanes. Additionally, you will provide floor support to the employees who produce the product. They may have issues with their equipment, questions on their instructions, or they may have issues with their hardware. It will be your responsibility to help those workers solve their problems.

How You’ll Make an Impact.

  • Development and qualification of coating systems and processes for gas turbine blades, vanes, and other components by means of high-velocity-oxygen-fuel spraying (HVOF) and plasma spraying (APS)
  • Management of development and qualification projects (scheduling, design of experiments, experimentation, reporting, documentation) with full responsibility for due dates, results and costs associated with your field of activities
  • Work with metallurgic lab for qualification and day-to-day production support. Interpret microstructure results and provide analysis.
  • Lead SPC data collection and analysis, develop controls based on this data for improving capability of the production process.
  • Collaborate in inter-organizational, international development projects in the field of gas turbine coatings for Siemens AG: Responsibility for the internal subprojects, coordination and management of the on-site work, reporting, networking duties etc.

What You Bring.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing engineering, materials science or similar
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing (preferably in a production coating environment) or in development with focus on thermal barrier coating technology of IGT and/or Aero blades and vanes
  • Expert knowledge in process control for coatings as well as in statistical process analysis and design-of-experiments
  • Knowledgeable in programming, online and offline, of Fanuc and ABB Robots for thermal coating applications for thermal spray coatings.
  • Knowledgeable in metallographic examination of MCrAlY, TBC and hard-face thermal coatings to specification requirements.
  • Good knowledge in materials technology, especially coating, joining and surface technology as well as knowledge
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM systems and product data management systems, preferably Siemens NX and Siemens Teamcenter
