A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

The Buying Professional supports the New Unit business in the Americas Region! The Buying Professional is the procurement lead in assigned auxiliary systems in the execution phase for Large Rotating Equipment (LRE). The Buying Professional develops and implements sophisticated buying strategies and leads the Purchase Contract throughout the New Unit life cycle from initiation through the warranty phase!

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Serve as liaison between suppliers and users, expediting as needed and resolving delivery, quality, or invoice issues.
  • Update project plans, and purchasing systems, and analyze requisitions for domestic and international purchases.
  • Develop and negotiate requests for quotes, prices, terms, and quality requirements.
  • Identify cost improvements through value analysis and alternative sourcing strategies.
  • Propose cost-saving solutions, including make-versus-buy analysis.
  • Evaluate and develop new supply sources and vendor evaluation criteria.

What You Bring (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (e.g., Supply Chain, Business, or related field).
  • Over 5 years of proven experience in purchasing with a track record of success in procurement and supply management.
  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of the field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments
  • Optimally applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular area of specialization
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's business practices and issues
  • Ability to work independently and with an organized and disciplined approach
  • Ability to travel 10% domestically or internationally
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
