The Steam Turbine Rotor team is continually evolving with the breadth of work as we face a whole new industry of work content on the Charlotte campus and global change in the energy market. Our success depends on the creativity, skill, and innovation of every employee as we develop new ways to process higher volume work more efficiently as a team. From the smallest rotor (<1,000 lbs.) to the largest (>150 tons), we manufacture them all with innovative machining and assembly.

A Snapshot of Your Day

  • The primary job requirements of this position are to set up and operate CNC (Computer Numeric Control) Lathes of varying size/capacity in various modes on a wide variety of industrial & utility steam rotors.
  • You will receive written/verbal instructions from supervisors/manufacturing engineers, interprets detailed drawings/sketches, blueprints, manufactures specifications, etc., and determine necessary tools. Load/unload parts from machines and/or assists crane operator. Sets up machines by installing tooling and programs, adjusting to proper machine settings, feeds, speeds, etc., per job documentation and drawing specifications.
  • Uses manual, semi-automatic or automatic controls to perform machining operations, such as: turn, mill, drill, ream, bore, tap, turn, face, groove, radius, and grind, etc.
  • Amend/modify CNC programs as needed and able to write MDI programs.
  • Abide by all company policies regarding, safety, quality, housekeeping, and performance expectations.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Associate degree in machining and minimum 2 years’ experience with large CNC lathes or 5+ years of experience.
  • Live head drilling / milling would be an asset.

What You Bring

  • We are looking for innovative, energetic individuals who are willing to listen attentively, learn from their peers, share their knowledge & firsthand experiences, and have a desire to grow with our company.
  • Other skills such as, but not limited to HBM (Horizontal Boring Mill), VBM (Vertical Boring Mill), Welding or Mechanic would be a great asset.
  • Computer skills with Windows based software would aid with your work experience.
