Manufacturing Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day

 

As a Generator Manufacturing Engineer, you will be a member of the Operations Team and join a group of experienced Generator Manufacturing Engineers who develop and provide innovative and efficient methods to manufacture new generator rotors and related power generation equipment. You will be responsible to drive improvement projects related to production including shopfloor layout, fixtures, and tools as well as 5S topics. You will utilize your technical skills and CAD/CAM software to develop and finalize manufacturing processes and write CNC programs for machining new generator rotors. You will be in close contact with design engineering to develop service solutions for existing product. You will become the subject matter expert in generator rotor manufacturing. How You’ll Make an Impact

●       Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

●       Assure manufacturing process is defined and communicated from engineering to manufacturing.

●       Develop, write, test (simulate), correct and optimize CNC programs of numeric controlled tooling machinery using CAD/CAM technology and methodology.

●       Programming responsibilities include provide up-to-date CNC programs, posted code (manuscript), set-up documentation, and tooling information (tool list, tool offset values, etc.) for CNC machining operations.

●       Develop, determine, and describe the setups of the work piece in the machines.

●       Review drawings and other design engineering documentation with respect to feasibility and develop the manufacturing machining plan and communicate to the industrial engineer.

●       Collaborate with machine operators and other engineers to solve technical manufacturing issues.

●       Support product quality and improvements to minimize non-conformances (both proactive and reactive).

 

What You Bring 

●       Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university/college

●       2+ years of related engineering work experience required.

●       Excellent communication skills across audiences – customer, engineering, management, manufacturing

●       Demonstrated experience in learning new software and IT tools, experience in CNC programming, SAP or Teamcenter a plus but not required.

●       Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
