About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) for auxiliary systems such as turbine air inlet, exhaust duct, expansion joint, enclosure, exhaust stack, heat exchangers, piping and other large fabrications you will be responsible for conducting supplier qualification, development, and quality assurance measures. You will work closely with various departments in a multicultural environment, both locally and globally, within a global supply chain management process. An SQE applies digital tools to improve processes, maintain data quality, ensure transparency, and address issues through containment, root cause analysis (RCA), and preventive measures!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Support a multi-functional team by assessing supplier capabilities, auditing supplier quality management system & processes, etc. Assist commodity strategic buyers in developing procurement strategies and project planning.
- Lead multi-functional teams to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) on commodity parts according to applicable process descriptions and standards. Leading involves planning, tracking, and reporting project achievements along with budget and resource requirements. Support the supplier quality assurance measures along with the complete PPQ. Approve supplier process via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plan.
- Perform supplier oversight and product inspections for regular project execution. Inspection types include dimensional, weld, coating, quality record package, traceability, etc.
- Identify and initiate containment on any identified non-conformances. Follow-up with corrective action as necessary.
- Support supplier evaluation based on regular analysis of supplier quality. Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, quality root cause analysis and definition of appropriate risk mitigation measures at the supplier.
- Controlling and Reporting: Generate periodical quality performance reports and ensure appropriate actions are initiated.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering, or a subject area related to the role. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.
- At least 5+ years of professional experience in supplier quality management, quality management, or engineering in the Power Generation Industry. Position Class can be adjusted based on the candidate’s experience.
- Experience in performing supplier evaluation, qualification, product/ process qualification & technical supplier development to provide a global, demand covering, quality assured and efficient supply base for responsible suppliers.
- Knowledge in welding, coating, material cleaning & preservation, and inspection (NDT Level II & III). CWI / CSWIP 3.1 / IWE certification preferred. NACE (AMPP / FROSIO) certification preferred.
- Familiar with AISC 360, AWS (D1.1, D1.2, D1.6), ASME (II, V, VII, IX B31.X) and / or EN 1090-2, ISO 3834 PED code requirements. Experience with manufacturing standards, Lean manufacturing, and specifications (ASTM, ISO).
- Experience working with and developing international suppliers, especially in Global Value Sourcing countries. Experience leading projects and running virtual multi-functional teams in an international environment. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 35% of the time!
