A Snapshot of Your Day
In your role as Power System Research Engineer (f/m/d) - AI/ML Specialist you will conduct research and developments on the application of AI/ML techniques to increase the efficiency and quality of the broad spectrum of technical and techno-economic analysis and consulting services offered by Siemens Energy’s Grid Consulting team. You will work closely with experienced power system consultants and research engineers on AI/ML models and algorithms to optimize the planning, analysis and operation of modern AC/DC power systems with advanced power electronics controllers. You will be actively involved in research collaboration with research institutions and industry partners to find innovative solution to various technical challenges and improve the products and services of Siemens Energy.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Conduction of advanced research in the application of AI/ML to power system planning and grid operations
- Active collaboration with internal experts and research institutions to co-innovate and co-create AI/ML new solutions for emerging challenges in power system generation and transmission
- Analyzation of large datasets from power systems to identify patterns, trends, and insights that can drive innovation
- Development and implementation of AI/ML models and algorithms to optimize the technical and techno-economic analysis of power generation and transmission systems
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing power system planning and analysis services
- Publishing of research findings in reputable journals and presentation at industry conferences
- Staying up to date with the latest advancements in AI/ML and their applications in power systems
What You Bring
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, master’s degree with significant research experience may also be considered
- Proven experience in power system engineering, with a focus on AC/DC grid applications
- Strong proficiency in AI/ML techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, neural networks, and deep learning
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, or MATLAB
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn
- Familiarity with one or more of the power system simulation tools and software (e.g., PSS/E, PowerFactory, or PSCAD/EMTDC)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills in business-fluent in English, German is a plus
