Our Manchester business is looking for a Senior Planning Engineer / Planning Engineer to join our current team.
We're a world-renowned business delivering multi-million-pound Engineering Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects for the High Voltage Transmission industry, and you’ll be joining a fast-moving dynamic team who are keen to make a difference in the business.
Our clients include National Grid and SSE amongst others. Projects are generally substation builds including installation of high voltage switchgear.

Your profile
· Experience of working as a Senior Planning Engineer or Planning Engineer.
· Ability to use Primavera (P6) to a good standard including resource and cost loading, critical path analysis and code allocation.
· Experience of Earned Value Management reporting (SPI & CPI)
· NEC contract experience desirable.
· Primavera Schedule Risk Analysis experience desirable.
· Strong presentation skills
· Excellent IT skills, fluent with Microsoft excel is desirable.
· Experience of administering databases – tableau knowledge desirable but support can be provided in this area in the initial stages
· Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally at all levels within the organisation and to the respective clients
· Fluent in written and spoken English
· Organised, practical, logical in work approach
· Comfortable with digital systems - ability to learn new software efficiently
· Possibility for flexible working i.e., home working mixed with office time as and when required.
Your responsibilities
· You will be supporting live delivery projects and tender submissions from time to time in the production of programmes when needed.
· Together with relevant project team / tender team members you will be responsible for producing project plans / programmes in P6 covering work scope which typically includes engineering, procurement civils and mechanical and electrical installation works.
· Interfacing the P6 programmes with tableau will also be part of your role to service the established earned value management reports that we produce. This is done with a relatively easy to use system of allocating applicable codes to your programme(s).
· Ensuring accuracy in the earned value management reports as these will be presented by you in meetings periodically (at least once a month) to senior management.
· Producing monthly programme submissions detailing progress achieved to date, with the forecast start and finish dates for all remaining activities culminating in forecast completion dates for the project(s).
· Cost and resource loading the programmes to the specified agreed project budgets.
· Work closely with the project commercial team members to ensure all commercial data required from the programme is provided which is again usually once a month.
· Carry out schedule risk analysis exercises as and when required. This is desirable but we fully appreciate you may not have the skill set to do this. If not support can be provided in the initial stages.
