Bid Management and Configuration (SGT)

Location: Lincoln, United Kingdom

Develop new ideas with the Bid Managers for Small size Gas Turbine (SGT) and driven equipment (Compressors, Generators or Pumps), along with the auxiliary equipment and extended scope for our Siemens Energy Industrial Products customer/client base.

Improve our service to our clients, we need qualified candidates to enhance the new unit sales business offerings and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the processes and tools.  The primary responsibility is to enable global Small Gas Turbine cost & configuration and quotation by providing best process and toolkit to Bid Management. Identify improvement areas within Configure, Price and Quotation (CPQ) related processes & tools, create business case, align with management and manage / supervise respective improvement projects. Take ownership of these project including budget setting and minimising Non Conformance Costs (NCCs). Support Engineering, R&D and factories to improve Gas turbine related cost estimation accuracy and integrate cost-out and product safety measures into related process & tool landscape.

Your profile
  • Degree in engineering, or equal, with Chartered status or working towards it,
  • Experience with configuring tools such as SAP, PLM, Salesforce, Dashboards and Snowflake with improving the use of the tools,
  • An ability to program with VBA and SQL,
  • Process improvement experience would be of benefit, 
  • First-hand experience of managing complex transformation projects, 
  • Experience of translating business requirements into functional specification, 
  • Ability to step in and lead project team in case of absence and or workload problems essential.
  • Fluent English skills in speaking and writing,
  • Experience or education related to design/specification/operation of rotating machinery is an advantage,
  • Positive, robust, tolerant, and cooperative personality,
  • Strong team player with good communication, problem solving, creativity and critical thinking skills,
  • Availability and willingness to start a permanent job in Lincoln, UK,
  • Knowledge of an additional language like French, Spanish, Russian and/or German could be an advantage.

Your responsibilities

The major Responsibilities of the Configuration Manager covers:
  • Support / lead the development of all new & existing bid management tools 
  • Coordination of interfaces between configuration tools and bid management tools.
  • Monitoring of development tasks
  • Generation and issuing of user training material for tools
  • Administrate and manage access to the tools
  • Help with development of analytics for sales opportunities & quotations.
  • Create & maintain product models within configuration tool. 
  • Advise / recommend and agree changes with the business predominantly Project management, design & applications engineering.
  • Maintenance of product baselines. Provide baseline cost reports.
  • Develop Product Cost analysis tools.
  • Produce and present requirements for solutions to Management for updating and approval.
  • Conducts business affairs with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
